Abstract

The article delves into the pressing issue of hospital wastewater treatment, emphasizing the environmental and health hazards posed by untreated effluent. It introduces the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) as a promising technology for wastewater treatment, particularly for complex hospital wastewater containing pathogens, drug residues, and chemicals. The study focuses on optimizing SBR performance using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to enhance organic matter and nutrient removal. The novelty lies in combining SBR with a tube-settler for improved efficiency, a method not previously explored for hospital wastewater. The research presents detailed experimental setups, analytical methods, and kinetic modeling, offering a comprehensive approach to wastewater treatment. The results demonstrate significant improvements in COD, nitrate, and phosphate removal, making the study a valuable resource for professionals seeking innovative solutions in wastewater management.
