Abstract
In this chapter we establish the fundamental relationships that exist between discrete-time and continuous-time control systems as the update rate is increased. The objective is to formalize the idea that, with faster sampling, the behavior of a discrete-time system resembles, or models, that of a continuous-time system. In this sense, a discrete-time system is a model of a continuous-time system.
