Abstract

The article delves into the current challenges of conventional chemotherapy, particularly the side effects of doxorubicin (DOX). It highlights the potential of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) as carriers for targeted DOX delivery, discussing various synthesis methods such as co-precipitation, hydrothermal synthesis, and high-temperature decomposition. The article also explores surface modifications of SPION to enhance their biocompatibility and stability, and their applications in magnetic thermotherapy and MRI. Additionally, it addresses the toxicity concerns of SPION and the need for further in vivo studies.
