Abstract

The article delves into the challenges of conventional energy resources and the shift towards renewable energy sources like solar and wind. It focuses on the main issue of wind energy variability and the necessity of backup energy sources. The paper introduces a novel modulation approach using a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in wind turbines under changing weather conditions. This approach is mathematically derived and evaluated for its static and adaptive nature, showcasing optimal performance compared to previously developed controllers. The article also provides detailed modeling of wind turbine systems and permanent magnet synchronous generators, highlighting the significance of the duty cycle in regulating voltage and obtaining maximum power point. The proposed PWM controller is designed to be easily implemented and cost-effective, making it a valuable contribution to the field of wind energy optimization.
