Abstract

This study delves into the characterization of eight Beauveria bassiana isolates collected from various regions in China, focusing on their morphological and molecular traits. Through detailed analyses, the research identifies the isolates' genetic profiles and assesses their pathogenicity against the whitefly Bemisia tabaci, a notorious agricultural pest. The findings reveal significant variations in the isolates' growth rates, conidial production, and virulence, with strain J36 emerging as the most effective against B. tabaci nymphs. The study underscores the potential of B. bassiana as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides, offering promising avenues for integrated pest management strategies. The research provides a comprehensive overview of the isolates' characteristics and their efficacy, contributing valuable insights for the development of biopesticides aimed at controlling B. tabaci populations.
