Abstract

This article delves into the innovative use of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels for electromagnetic wave absorption, focusing on their performance in both GHz and THz frequency ranges. The study reveals that rGO aerogels exhibit a maximum effective absorption bandwidth of 6.74 GHz in the GHz range, with a notable reflection loss of -67.3 dB, and maintain excellent absorption capabilities over 0.2–2.2 THz. The unique structural features of rGO, including its defective lattice and tunable conductivity, contribute to enhanced dielectric loss and polarization relaxation, enabling broadband absorption. Furthermore, the article explores the practical applications of rGO aerogels in stealth technology, demonstrating a significant reduction in radar cross section (RCS) values when applied as a coating. Software simulations confirm the material's potential for real-world electromagnetic shielding and stealth applications, highlighting its superiority over conventional materials in complex electromagnetic environments. The findings underscore the promise of rGO aerogels as next-generation broadband electromagnetic absorbers, addressing the limitations of traditional materials and paving the way for advanced technological solutions.
