Abstract

This chapter explores a multi-level hybrid ensemble approach for diabetic retinopathy (DR) prediction, combining deep learning and machine learning techniques. The study addresses the challenges of data imbalance and resource constraints by utilizing InceptionV3 and ResNet for feature extraction, followed by Random Forest and SVM for classification. An attention mechanism with LSTM dynamically weighs important features, improving model precision. The proposed method achieves 89% accuracy, outperforming existing solutions and providing valuable insights through Grad-CAM analysis. The research highlights the importance of data augmentation, hyperparameter tuning, and the integration of multiple models for robust DR detection. The findings offer a promising solution for automated diagnosis, enhancing clinical workflows and reducing misdiagnosis.
