Zusammenfassung

Um die Nachhaltigkeit von Produkten zu erhöhen, ist es hilfreich, Produktlebenszyklen zu verlängern (z. B. Fischhaber et al., 2016; Olsson et al., 2018). Dies führt zu einem sparsamen Ressourcenverbrauch und beschleunigt die Markteinführung neuer Technologien durch eine bessere Kostenverteilung in Verbindung mit einem längeren Lebenszyklus (ebd.). Die heute vorherrschenden volumenbasierten linearen Entwicklungs- und Produktionsmodelle stoßen aufgrund zunehmender Ressourcenknappheit und der zunehmenden Internalisierung externer Umweltkosten (z. B. Endres, 2011; EU Green Deal, Europäische Kommission, 2019) an ihre Grenzen.
