Multi-objective optimization basing modified Taguchi method to arrive the optimal die design for CGP of AZ31 magnesium alloy

Abstract

The article delves into the optimization of die design for the Constrained Groove Pressing (CGP) process of AZ31 magnesium alloy, aiming to improve its mechanical properties. The study utilizes a modified Taguchi method coupled with finite element analysis to identify the optimal die geometry. Key parameters such as groove angle, groove width, and coefficient of friction are systematically varied and analyzed to determine their impact on total deformation, equivalent elastic strain, and equivalent stress. The research highlights the significant contributions of these parameters to the deformation characteristics of the processed AZ31 Mg alloy sheet, ultimately aiming to achieve fine grain size and high equivalent stress with minimal deformation. The multi-objective optimization approach offers a reliable method to balance multiple performance indicators, making this study a valuable resource for specialists in materials science and engineering.
