The design of Space Launch vehicle is a complex problem that must balance competing objectives and constraints. In this paper we present a novel approach for the multidisciplinary design and optimization of an Air-launched Space Launch vehicle using Simulated Annealing as optimizer. The vehicle performance modeling requires that analysis from modules of mass, propulsion, aerodynamics and trajectory be integrated into the design optimization process. Simulated Annealing has been used as global optimizer to achieve minimum Gross Launch Mass while remaining within certain mission constraints and performance objectives. The mission of ASLV is to deliver a 200kg payload (satellite) to Low Earth Orbit.
