Abstract

The article focuses on the synthesis and characterization of the multifunctional cobalt(II) coordination crystal, PPPC, which combines several advanced properties within a single material. Key topics include the crystal's nonlinear optical activity, dielectric response, ferroelectric polarization, weak ferromagnetism, and broadband THz emission. The synthesis process involves a simple, reproducible slow-evaporation method that yields mechanically stable crystals. The crystal's structure is confirmed through single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing an orthorhombic lattice with a distorted octahedral Co(II) environment. Optical transparency and UV–Vis transmittance measurements demonstrate the crystal's suitability for optoelectronic applications. Dielectric analysis shows stable low-loss behavior, making PPPC ideal for high-frequency devices. Pyroelectric and ferroelectric studies confirm the crystal's temperature-responsive polarisation and switchable ferroelectric properties. Magnetic measurements reveal weak ferromagnetism at room temperature. Nonlinear optical studies, including SHG and THz emission, highlight the crystal's potential for photonic and THz applications. The article concludes by emphasizing the multifunctional nature of PPPC and its relevance to sustainable development goals, making it a promising candidate for various advanced technologies.
