Abstract

The article delves into the significant challenges posed by soil salinization on global agricultural production, with a focus on chickpea crops. It highlights the potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) as a sustainable solution to mitigate the detrimental effects of salinity stress. The study examines the impact of AMF on the morpho-physiological and biochemical parameters of chickpea genotypes, including root and shoot length, nodule numbers, and the accumulation of compatible metabolites like proline and glycine betaine. By analyzing these parameters, the research aims to uncover the mechanisms that contribute to plant resilience, paving the way for the development of strategies to enhance crop productivity in saline environments.
