Abstract

The article introduces a novel approach to improve the performance of asymmetric supercapacitors by using N-doped carbon coating to stabilize metal sulfides on carbon materials. The method involves growing NiCo2S4 nanotubes on N-doped carbon-coated carbon cloth (CC-CN) to enhance electron and ion transfer, resulting in a high specific capacitance of 2.22 F cm⁻² at 5 mA cm⁻². The asymmetric supercapacitor NiCo2S4/CC-CN//PACC achieves a high energy density of 0.11 mWh cm⁻² at a power density of 0.35 mW cm⁻². The study highlights the importance of structural and interfacial coupling to achieve superior electrochemical performance in supercapacitors.
