Klimaentwicklung wird durch externe Randbedingungen wie z. B. die CO2-Konzentration und die Anfangsbedingungen in den Subsystemen des Klimasystems bestimmt. Klimaänderungen manifestieren sich als Häufigkeitsänderungen des Auftretens atmosphärischer Zirkulationsregime.
