Abstract

The chapter introduces a revolutionary composite containment shell, Xycomp®, designed for magnetically driven pumps. Traditional shells made from stainless steel or other metals suffer from heat generation due to eddy currents, leading to inefficiencies and potential pump failure. The Xycomp® shell, made of carbon fibers and polyetheretherketone (PEEK), practically eliminates these issues, offering superior thermal and electrical conductivity properties. Extensive testing has validated the shell's performance, demonstrating its ability to withstand extreme temperatures, pressures, and fatigue. The shell's unique design and materials make it an ideal solution for challenging fluid-handling operations in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and aerospace.
