Abstract

The chapter explores the integration of Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) with 5G relay stations to enhance processing capabilities and security. It introduces the concept of SLMLET, a shell-rolled chip designed for MEC devices, which combines high-performance computing with low power consumption. The text delves into the design and implementation of SLM-based embedded FPGA-IP, highlighting its ability to reduce configuration memory and area. The chapter also discusses the development of three prototype chips, the eFPGA-IP (TEG1), eFPGA-IP (TEG2), and eFPGA-IP (TEG3), each addressing specific issues and improvements. The evaluation results and considerations of the SLMLET-1 and SLMLET-2 chips are presented, along with the solutions identified for future development. The chapter concludes with a discussion on the potential applications and future directions of SLMLET technology.
