Non-axisymmetric stationary waves in a viscoelastic three-layered cylindrical shell

The article investigates the propagation of non-axisymmetric stationary waves in viscoelastic three-layered cylindrical shells, a configuration widely used in modern mechanical engineering and aircraft construction. It addresses the complex interactions between layered viscoelastic structures and continuous media, focusing on the dynamic responses and resonance phenomena. The study employs advanced mathematical models, including the Kirchhoff–Love and Timoshenko hypotheses, to derive the equations of motion for these structures. It highlights the coupling of longitudinal–transverse waves and torsional waves in the non-axisymmetric case, which are determined from a single general dispersion equation. The article presents detailed dispersion curves and phase velocities, illustrating how these properties vary with different parameters such as the wave number and the modulus of elasticity of the filler. It also explores the effects of filler thickness and contact conditions on the dynamic behavior of the shells, providing valuable insights into the mitigation of resonance phenomena. The numerical results, obtained using sophisticated software packages, offer a comprehensive understanding of the complex dynamics at play in these structures.
