Abstract

The article delves into the study of non-classical correlations in a Heisenberg spin model, employing the Heitler–London approach. It begins by discussing the significance of quantum correlations in quantum information theory and the limitations of entanglement in capturing all quantum correlations. The authors introduce quantum discord as a measure that goes beyond entanglement, highlighting its ability to reveal quantumness even in separable mixed states. The study focuses on a two-qubit Heisenberg XXX model subjected to an external transverse nonuniform magnetic field, exploring the behavior of quantum correlations quantified by concurrence, trace distance discord, and quantum consonance at thermal equilibrium. The authors analyze the effects of temperature, magnetic field, and exchange coupling on these correlations, revealing intriguing behaviors such as the persistence of quantum discord in the absence of entanglement and the role of magnetic field strength in sustaining entanglement at high temperatures. The findings have implications for understanding the dynamics of non-classical correlations in Heisenberg spin chains and could contribute to the development of quantum technologies.
