Abstract

The article presents a nonparametric method for cognitive diagnosis when attributes are polytomous, offering greater diagnostic depth and precision compared to binary attributes. The proposed method, NPADC, is applicable to various cognitive diagnosis models and demonstrated superior performance in simulations compared to the parametric pG-DINA model. The study highlights the method's effectiveness in accurately classifying examinees into proficiency classes with smaller sample sizes and shorter tests, making it a valuable tool for educational assessments and small-scale educational programs.
