Abstract

This chapter delves into the ACUHIAM project's efforts to mainstream peace studies in Africa, highlighting the intersection of peace studies, epistemic violence, and decolonial theory. It argues for nonviolence as a decolonial principle, emphasizing community involvement, bottom-up approaches, and contextualized studies. The study is based on semi-structured expert interviews and a coding system derived from decolonial theory, providing valuable insights into the possibilities and limits of achieving nonviolence through peace studies programs.
