Abstract

The article introduces a novel active voltage-type arc suppression method for single-phase grounding faults in distribution networks. Existing methods, such as passive and active arc suppression techniques, are analyzed for their limitations in handling low-resistance faults and high-load conditions. The proposed method addresses these issues by injecting a current from the neutral point and estimating the fault distance using the zero-sequence network of the system. This approach ensures precise fault distance calculation and effective suppression of both fundamental and harmonic components. Simulation results validate the high accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method, making it a significant advancement in the field of arc suppression for power systems.
