Abstract

The article introduces a novel PV array reconfiguration technique integrated with a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm, named RMPPT, to address the challenges posed by partial shading in solar PV systems. The proposed method aims to minimize mismatch losses and enhance power output without the need for complex hardware or extensive measurements. The study compares the performance of the proposed technique with conventional configurations, static reconfiguration approaches, and dynamic reconfiguration methods, demonstrating significant improvements in power generation and system efficiency. The RMPPT approach is further enhanced by integrating it with a Reconfigured Particle Swarm Optimization (RPSO) algorithm, which simplifies the operation of MPPT algorithms and reduces power losses under partial shading conditions. The article concludes by highlighting the potential of the proposed technique to improve the performance of PV systems under various shading scenarios, offering an effective and applicable method for enhancing the efficiency of renewable energy systems.
