Abstract

This chapter explores the numerical modeling of a single panel slab-track system, emphasizing the integration of steel fiber and polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete to bolster mechanical properties. The study investigates the performance of these advanced materials under three-point bending conditions, utilizing the 3DNLFEA package for numerical simulations. The results reveal distinct crack patterns and load-carrying capacities for steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) and polypropylene fiber-reinforced concrete (PPFRC) slab-track panels. SFRC demonstrates a more widespread crack distribution with smaller crack widths, while PPFRC exhibits localized cracks. The SFRC panel shows a significant increase in peak load and a hardening response until the reinforcement yields in tension, whereas the PPFRC panel experiences a notable loss in load-carrying capacity post-peak load. The chapter also delves into the constitutive models used for concrete, steel plates, and reinforcing bars, providing a comprehensive understanding of the material behaviors under various loading conditions. The findings highlight the potential of fiber-reinforced concrete in enhancing the structural stability, durability, and track smoothness of high-speed railway systems, making it a crucial resource for advancing railway infrastructure.
