Numerical Simulation of Residual Stress in the JCO-Welding-Calibration Whole Process Forming of the Submarine Pipeline Pipes

Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical role of residual stress in the JCO-welding-calibration forming process of submarine pipeline pipes. It begins by emphasizing the importance of understanding residual stress for the successful forming and calibration of pipeline pipes. The study utilizes numerical simulations to analyze the stress distribution during various stages of the forming process, including pre-bending, JCO forming, seam welding, and compression calibration. Notably, the research highlights how different process parameters, such as the number of petal molds, compression ratio, and friction coefficient, significantly influence residual stress levels. The findings reveal that optimizing these parameters can lead to more uniform stress distribution and improved pipeline performance. Additionally, the chapter discusses the impact of calibration methods on mechanical properties, showing that compression calibration can enhance the pipeline's suitability for deep-sea environments. Overall, the chapter offers valuable insights into the optimization of pipeline forming processes, contributing to the development of more reliable and efficient submarine pipelines.
