Abstract

The study delves into the propagation of water waves over an infinite trench with a bottom-standing thick rectangular barrier, a scenario relevant to coastal and marine engineering. By solving a set of weakly singular integral equations, the authors determine reflection and transmission coefficients, essential for understanding wave behavior and designing effective coastal structures. The results, validated through comparison with known solutions, highlight the influence of trench and barrier dimensions on wave scattering, offering valuable insights into wave energy transformation and coastal protection strategies.
