Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical role of thermal conductivity in medium-deep geothermal boreholes, essential for efficient ground source heat pump systems. The study introduces a hybrid modeling approach that combines geological testing and thermal transmission analysis to overcome the limitations of existing methods. Key topics include the development of a thermal conductivity model for sandstone and non-sandstone strata, the verification of the model through borehole testing in Shenyang, and the analysis of geological characteristics such as lithology, porosity, and argillaceous content. The results highlight the model's high accuracy, with minor deviations of only 1.3% and 3.1% in comparative analyses. The study concludes that the hybrid model effectively addresses the challenges of complex geological variations, providing valuable insights for the design and optimization of geothermal systems. Additionally, the chapter discusses the implications of the findings for underground engineering, radioactive waste disposal, and soil freeze-thaw studies, making it a comprehensive resource for professionals in the field.
