Abstract

The chapter delves into the Ogoni women's movement, focusing on their nonviolent resistance strategies and their unique perspective on peace. It explores how these women, despite facing multiple layers of violence, have become leaders in peacekeeping and nonviolent activism. The study challenges stereotypes about Black women and violence, and highlights the practical and logical reasons behind their choice of nonviolent resistance. Through interviews and observations, the chapter provides a rich narrative of the women's experiences and strategies, making it a compelling read for those interested in social activism, gender studies, and African history.
