AMD is the world's number-two supplier of x86 CPUs, second only to Intel. Incredibly versatile, the x86 is used in personal computers, servers, high-performance computing and workstations. It is also used in cars. Notably, x86 Ryzen CPUs from AMD have underpinned Tesla's media central control/display unit since 2021. Tesla models S, X, 3, Y and CT feature a Ryzen APU (Accelerated Processing Unit). An APU combines a central processing unit and a graphics processing unit on a single chip. The S and X Tesla models also use an AMD GPU. Next-generation AMD x86-based devices are slated for new Teslas starting in Q2 2026. …
