Abstract

This chapter delves into the intricate system of hot, intense vortices formed in the Earth’s mantle, focusing on three large-scale energy-carrying intramantle vortices: Himalaya-Tian-Shan–Kolyma, Kolyma–Yellowstone, and Yellowstone–Mediterranean Sea. The analysis supports the existence of a hydrodynamic connection between vortex (1) in the Himalaya-Tian Shan and vortex (3) in the Mediterranean and Black Seas, with hot matter flowing under the Caspian Sea. The study highlights the influence of these vortices on the Caspian Sea level and bottom relief, as well as the climatic regime of the Black and Azov Seas. The chapter also explores the role of astronomical factors in determining the state of the intramantle vortex system. Through the examination of gravity anomaly maps and topographical data, the text provides a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions between these vortices and their geological and climatic impacts.
