Abstract

Design and construction of semiconductive heterostructures is an efficient strategy for expanding the range of absorption spectra, and thus enhancing the photocatalytic activity. With TiO2 nanofibers as a starting point, one-dimensional CeVO4/TiO2 heterostructures have been controllably synthesized via electrospinning and post solvothermal route. The introduction of CeVO4 nanorods slantwise grown on the surface of TiO2 nanofibers is in favor of efficient separation of photogenerated charges. Furthermore, the microstructures and photocatalytic properties of hierarchical CeVO4/TiO2 are characterized in detail. Compared with individual CeVO4 and TiO2 nanomaterials, one-dimensional hierarchical CeVO4/TiO2 heterostructures possess the extraordinary photocatalytic properties under simulated sunlight irradiation, which was demonstrated by the photocatalytic degradation rates of NB (93.1%) and RhB (94.5%).
