Abstract

In addition to the very experience of a flood remembered once the flood is over, which is discussed in Chap. 3, exchange of information during the event itself, in the aftermath, and at the time when people are no longer under the direct impact of the stimulus that a flood is, seems to be the crucial process modifying the memory of floods.

Footnotes
1
On account of the privacy policy applied by YouTube, videos of some content providers were not analysed for the number of views over time since such data was unavailable.

2
YouTube provides only the total number of viewers, so it is not possible to separate the share of local and regional viewers from the share of viewers coming from other regions. We suppose that the share of viewers coming from the affected communities is relatively high as they use videos to refresh their memories of these events which are significant for them. However, this issue requires further studies.
