I have spent the past two years of my life as an online graduate student, and the past three years as a military spouse. My life as a military spouse is filled with adventure; I relocate often and live all over the country. Yet no matter where my husband is stationed, I focus on continuing my education and bettering myself through academic pursuits. This is possible because of online graduate programs. With the quality of being Internet-based, my online graduate program allows me, and others like me who would not otherwise be able to participate in graduate programs, the ability to complete a graduate degree regardless of our location. As a military spouse that is what drew me to the online graduate Instructional Design and Technology program at the University of West Florida. Military life equates to travel and instability for many of us involved. Though I find it to be an exciting life with unparalleled opportunities to immerse myself in new locations and cultures, it can be difficult to further educational pursuits due to constant relocation. Online graduate degrees provide military personnel and spouses with the ability to complete our higher education degrees in a variety of locations and careers, and this opportunity of graduate education would otherwise be out of our reach. …
