Abstract

The article investigates the development of optically clear pressure-sensitive adhesives (OPSAs) with enhanced properties through the incorporation of multiple hydrogen bond cross-linking. The study focuses on the synthesis of UPyHCBA monomers, which contain strong hydrogen-bonding units, and their integration into acrylic PSAs. The research highlights significant improvements in mechanical strength, thermal stability, and optical transparency, making these adhesives suitable for high-performance applications. The article delves into the characterization techniques used to assess the properties of the modified adhesives, including Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The findings reveal that the incorporation of UPyHCBA monomers leads to a more robust and stable polymer network, enhancing the adhesives' cohesion and adhesion. Additionally, the study explores the optical properties of the adhesives, demonstrating high transmittance and low haze, which are critical for applications in electronics, automotive, and medical devices. The article also discusses the rheological and viscoelastic properties of the adhesives, providing insights into their performance under dynamic stresses. Overall, the research offers a comprehensive analysis of how hydrogen bond cross-linking can be leveraged to develop high-performance OPSAs, paving the way for innovative applications in various industries.
