Abstract

The article investigates the use of Differential Evolution (DE) algorithms and their advanced variants for the optimal design of electrical and electronic filters. It focuses on the selection of discrete component values for a 10th-order Bessel high-pass filter, a critical task in achieving precise filter performance. The study compares nine DE algorithms, including basic DE, SDE, JDE, JADE, SaDE, SHADE, LSHADE, EADE, and AGDE, across three industrial component series: E12, E96, and E192. The performance of these algorithms is evaluated based on their ability to minimize error values and achieve rapid convergence. The LSHADE algorithm emerges as the most effective, demonstrating superior accuracy and convergence speed. The article also validates the results using the CEC2022 benchmark functions, further confirming the robustness of the LSHADE algorithm. Additionally, the study discusses the advantages of Bessel filters in terms of group delay and phase accuracy, making them ideal for applications requiring high precision. The findings highlight the potential of advanced DE variants in solving complex optimization problems in filter design, offering valuable insights for researchers and engineers seeking to enhance filter performance and efficiency.
