Abstract

The article explores the optimization of frequency modulation for carrier waves in induction motor drive systems, focusing on enhancing the performance of multilevel NPC inverters. It highlights the limitations of traditional fixed-frequency carrier modulation techniques and introduces a novel FM modulation method that dynamically adjusts the carrier wave frequency. This approach results in more flexible and optimized PWM signals, improving the output voltage quality of the inverter and enabling robust and responsive control for induction motor systems. The study includes both simulation and experimental results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed FM modulation technique in reducing harmonic distortion, decreasing switching frequency, and enhancing the overall performance of the motor drive system. The article concludes by emphasizing the advantages of the proposed method in terms of simplicity, low memory requirements, and its ability to mitigate issues such as mechanical vibrations and heat generation. The findings validate the robust control capabilities of the FM modulation technique for induction motor systems, making it a significant contribution to the field of power electronics and motor control.
