Abstract

The article discusses the critical issue of harmonic mitigation in high-power induction motor (IM) drives, which are essential for various industrial applications. It introduces a novel programmed PWM (P-PWM) approach that effectively reduces torque ripples and harmonics, independent of machine parameters and loading conditions. The proposed method is compared with standardized PWM techniques like SMT-PWM and SHR-PWM, showing superior performance in minimizing torque ripples and lower-order harmonics. Experimental results using a TYPHOON-HIL setup validate the effectiveness of the P-PWM technique, making it a promising solution for enhancing the performance of IM drives in high-power applications.
