Abstract

The article presents an in-depth analysis of hybrid standalone renewable energy systems (HSRES) for rural electrification, focusing on the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It highlights the integration of solar, wind, biomass, and biogas resources with battery storage to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply. The study utilizes advanced optimization techniques such as Harris Hawk Optimization (HHO) and HOMER Pro software to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. The research also emphasizes the environmental and social benefits of such systems, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved living standards. The case study in Chamoli demonstrates the high potential of HSRES for sustainable rural electrification, making it a valuable resource for professionals and researchers in the field of renewable energy and sustainability.
