Optimization and numerical analysis of friction stir welding parameters of AA7075-T651 and AA 1200-H19 using tapered tool

Abstract

The article delves into the optimization and numerical analysis of friction stir welding parameters for AA7075-T651 and AA1200-H19 aluminum alloys using a tapered tool. It discusses the advantages of friction stir welding over conventional methods, including reduced heat input, elimination of solidification defects, and environmental friendliness. The study focuses on the selection and optimization of welding parameters such as rotational speed, welding speed, and tool tilt angle, using techniques like Response Surface Methodology and Taguchi method. The results demonstrate significant improvements in ultimate tensile strength, hardness, and impact energy of the welded joints. The article also highlights the use of advanced analysis methods such as ANOVA and Grey Relational Analysis to identify the most effective process parameters, making it a valuable resource for professionals in welding and materials science.
