Abstract

The article focuses on optimizing conservation networks for vascular plants on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by incorporating phylogenetic diversity. It highlights the significance of considering evolutionary history in conservation efforts, as species with unique evolutionary lineages are at higher risk of extinction. The study identifies priority areas for conservation based on both species richness and evolutionary distinctiveness, revealing gaps in the current protected areas. By combining these approaches, the research provides a more effective strategy for biodiversity conservation on the plateau, emphasizing the importance of integrating evolutionary information to enhance conservation efforts.
