Abstract

The chapter explores the optimization of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Srinagar through spatiotemporal modeling. It begins by highlighting the environmental impacts of traditional combustion engine vehicles and the transition to electric cars driven by technological advancements and supportive policies. The study aims to strategically place charging stations by analyzing traffic patterns, seasonal variations, and peak demand hours, minimizing congestion and wait times. Data collection includes geographic data, vehicle ownership, energy demand, government policies, and land use regulations. The optimization process involves identifying optimal locations, performing spatiotemporal analysis, and conducting sustainability analysis. Key findings include the current scenario of 2046 EV owners and 2 charging stations in Srinagar, with peak charging activity in the evening hours. The study also examines travel dynamics, environmental consciousness, and cost savings as motivators for EV adoption. The results provide valuable insights into enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of charging infrastructure, aligning with national and global sustainability goals.
