Abstract

The chapter focuses on optimizing the selection of motor-driven fluid-handling equipment such as pumps and compressors for energy efficiency. It introduces the True-Weighted Efficiency (TWE) method, which considers multiple operating conditions to provide a more accurate measure of energy consumption. The TWE method is compared to traditional efficiency metrics and demonstrated through case studies involving a pump and a turbocompressor. The chapter also discusses the application of the TWE method in life cycle costing strategies, highlighting its practical benefits in selecting energy-efficient equipment.
