Abstract

The chapter delves into the potential of building multi-type air-conditioning systems in Japan as a significant resource for virtual power plants. It estimates the installed capacity of these systems, highlighting the suitability of their load for high-speed demand response due to the ability to manage room temperature changes and control power suppression precisely. The author discusses the challenges and benefits of integrating these systems into a virtual power plant, including the need for reliable measurement and compensation systems. The chapter also explores the design of practical application systems, drawing from Japanese regulatory experiences and the development of supply and demand adjustment markets. It concludes by emphasizing the clean value of virtual power plants based on FastADR, positioning them as a crucial component in future power systems.
