Ford has founded a new company to accelerate its autonomous vehicle business and capitalize on market opportunities. Sherif Marakby, previously Vice President of Autonomous Vehicles and Electrification at Ford, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Autonomous Vehicles LLC. The US car manufacturer has announced in this context that it intends to invest a total of four billion US dollars in the development of autonomous vehicles through until 2023. This includes its one billion dollar investment for the acquisition of Argo AI, which Ford made public in February 2017. Argo AI is a start-up company specializing in artificial intelligence and robotics based in Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania (USA).
