Toyota and Subaru have entered into a new business and capital alliance. Toyota will increase its stake in Subaru and Subaru will also acquire shares in Toyota. The aim of the two companies is to further develop and strengthen their long-term partnership. They plan to jointly develop all-wheel-drive models and the next generation of the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ sports cars. Subaru will extend its use of the Toyota Hybrid System, which is currently found in its XV crossover, into other models. The CEOs of Toyota and Subaru, Akio Toyoda and Tomomi Nakamura, also emphasized the importance of ongoing development in fields such as connectivity, autonomous driving, and electric cars, together with the joint use of vehicle platforms.
