The Edag Group has opened a competence center for functional safety and cybersecurity in Weinheim (Germany) where it plans to bring together its expertise in these areas. Validating the functional safety of vehicles is already an extremely complex task. As a result of increasing digitization, which is part of the move toward autonomous driving, and the growing interaction between vehicles and their environment, the process of ensuring the security of the data has also become highly complicated. Initially the center in Weinheim will house 25 specialists working on integrated safety and security concepts. By the end of 2020, the workforce will have grown to 50.
