In the future, Valmet Automotive will not only manufacture cars but also mass produce battery systems for electric vehicles at its autmotive factory in Uusikaupunki (Finland). Behind this intention lies a contract with an automotive manufacturer to mount the systems and produce the cell modules. The factory is planned to go into operation late in the second quarter of 2021 although the focus will remain in vehicle manufacturing. The battery factory in Salo (Finland) that commenced production in October 2019 will be extended later. Work on the extension has already begun.
