Together with eleven other partners, Schaeffler has established KI Park e. V. in Berlin (Germany). The purpose of the society is to foster real-life applications in the field of artificial intelligence (KI is the German equivalent of AI) and to develop the associated ethical and regulatory frameworks for Germany and the rest of Europe. "Being a member of KI Park enables us to take innovative AI technologies to a new level across all four pillars of our digital agenda: smart products, digital value chain, interconnected plants and machines, and the digital workplace," explained Jürgen Henn from Schaeffler. Schaeffler already has its own intelligently connected systems: its digital value-added service integrates condition monitoring and preventive maintenance in a single system. And at the Schaeffler Hub for Advanced Research at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, scientists have been carrying out research into the usability of AI in industrial applications since 2016.
