Abstract

The article delves into the concept of perceived calling enablement, which refers to employees perceiving their job as supporting their pursuit of a calling outside of their current work. It argues that this enablement can lead to positive work outcomes, such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment, even when the job does not directly fulfill the calling. The study integrates self-determination theory to explain how autonomous motivation can drive these positive outcomes. The authors conducted three empirical studies to validate their hypotheses, including qualitative exploration and quantitative testing, making the research both comprehensive and innovative in the field of calling literature.
