Perfluorination is a process that replaces all the hydrogen atoms in a substrate with fluorine atoms. It provides perfluorinated compounds. Especially, perfluorinated compounds which possess functional group(s) are used as precursors of perfluorinated building blocks. Materials which have perfluorinated structure in a molecule are important components of thermally and chemically resistant materials used in infrastructure architecture and electronics applications in industry. However, the synthesis of the perfluorinated structure is not easy. This limits structural variety. Direct fluorination, a process that directly converts the carbon-hydrogen bonds of a molecule into carbon-fluorine ones, is a powerful tool to obtain such perfluorinated structure [13]. …
