Abstract

In order to accurately analyze the throughput performance of dedicated control channel (DCC) multichannel protocol in the case of IEEE 802.11, the performance analysis model for DCC is proposed and mathematical normalized throughput is analyzed. On the basis of new understanding of distributed coordination function (DCF) mechanism throughput formula under the saturated conditions proposed by Giuseppe Bianchi, the throughput formula of DCC is derived. Furthermore the effect of channel rate, number of channels, and number of stations on DCC throughput performance is illustrated by simulation. Simulation results show that in the case of T TRSMIT/T RTS/CTS > 1, DCC normalized throughput maintains a constant value, without relationship with the number of stations. With the data rate doubled, the increase of normalized throughput is significantly reduced. In the case of two channels, the difference of normalized throughput among different data rate is small. But with the increase of number of channels, the difference of normalized throughput becomes larger.
